Three products, three different jobs

Most ear care goes wrong because people reach for a cotton bud, which pushes wax further in. Here is what each of our products actually does, and what none of them do.

Removes wax you can see

An ear washer rinses the outer canal with warm water. That is the part you can reach safely, and the part a cotton bud makes worse.

Lets you see what you are doing

The camera cleaner puts a lit lens on your phone screen, so you are working by sight instead of by feel.

A ritual, not a treatment

Ear candles are for the warmth and the quiet. There is no good evidence they remove wax, and we say so on the product page.

Says when to stop

Every product page lists what it is not for: impacted wax, a painful or discharging ear, grommets or a perforated eardrum.

Tips are yours alone

Silicone and moulded tips are personal items. Replacements are included, and we tell you not to share them.

Frequently asked questions

Usually not. Pressure during a cold is normally fluid behind the eardrum, which these tools do not reach. If the pressure or pain persists, see a doctor.
Usually not. If you are going about an ear problem, a clinician would rather see it as it is. For a hearing test, ask the clinic what they prefer.
Excess earwax can affect balance and coordination. An Ear Wax Clean Kit may help if wax buildup is the cause.
Wax builds up more with age, and gentle irrigation is a common way to manage it. Avoid it entirely with a perforated eardrum, grommets, recent surgery or any pain, and see a clinician instead.
Yes, after using an Ear Wax Cleaning Kit, avoid lying on the treated ear immediately to allow any remaining moisture to evaporate.
Rinse the tips in warm water and let them dry fully before you put them away. Tips are personal items, so do not share them.
Yes, an Ear Cleaner Kit removes trapped dirt, wax, and irritants, reducing itchiness. However, persistent itching may indicate dryness or an allergy.
No. Ear pain on a flight comes from pressure behind the eardrum, which earwax does not affect. Swallowing or yawning during descent is what helps.
Clearing a wax blockage restores the hearing that blockage was masking, and nothing more. If your hearing is still poor once the wax is gone, a doctor or audiologist should assess it.
Some Ear Cleaner Kits may work for pets, but it's best to use veterinarian-approved ear cleaning tools designed specifically for dogs or cats.
Clearing visible wax can help trapped water drain. It does not prevent swimmer's ear. A sore, itchy or discharging ear after swimming needs a clinician.
No. Use your own tips. If a kit is used by more than one person, everyone needs their own disposable tips.
Most come in a compact case with reusable tools, so they pack easily. Tips are personal, so keep your own.
Yes, an Ear Wax Cleaning Kit with softening drops helps moisturise and loosen dry wax. Using an irrigation system after softening makes removal easier.
No. Do not irrigate or clean an ear that is infected, painful, swollen or discharging. See a doctor first. This also applies if you have or have had a perforated eardrum or grommets.
An Ear Cleaner Kit provides cost-effective ear cleaning at home. While professional cleaning is recommended for severe blockages, a high-quality kit offers regular maintenance between doctor visits.
Yes, for visible wax in the outer canal. Hearing aid users tend to produce more wax, so blockages are common. Your audiologist should handle cleaning the aids themselves and checking the fit.
Many Ear Wax Clean Kits include washable and reusable tools, such as stainless-steel ear picks, silicone spirals, or irrigation syringes. Always clean after each use to maintain hygiene.
Only where a wax blockage is causing it, which is a minority of cases. Ringing that persists after the wax is gone should be assessed by a doctor or audiologist.
An Ear Wax Cleaning Kit can work in minutes. Irrigation kits usually flush out wax instantly, while softening drops may take a few hours to loosen hardened wax before removal.
An Ear Wax Clean Kit can relieve mild ear discomfort caused by wax buildup. If pain persists or worsens, consult a doctor to rule out ear infections or underlying conditions.
Removing visible excess earwax at home, when a build-up is uncomfortable or dulling sound. That is the whole purpose. It is not preventative care and it does not treat any condition.
No. Earwax protects the ear canal, and over-cleaning strips that protection and irritates the skin. Use a kit only when there is a build-up worth removing.
If the blockage is wax near the opening of the canal, often yes. If it is impacted deep in the ear, or the ear is painful, a clinician should remove it. Do not keep flushing an ear that will not clear.
Using an Ear Wax Cleaning Kit once a week is ideal for most people. Those with excessive wax buildup may benefit from twice-weekly use, while others might only need it once a month for maintenance.
A gentle Ear Wax Clean Kit can be used on children, but only with supervision. Look for soft-tipped or water-based irrigation systems designed to safely clear wax without causing discomfort or damaging sensitive ears.
An Ear Cleaner Kit is safer than cotton buds, which push wax deeper into the ear canal. Kits use soft silicone spirals, irrigation syringes, or vacuum suction to remove wax without risking blockages or eardrum damage.
Yes, an Ear Wax Cleaning Kit with softening drops or irrigation systems can loosen hardened wax. Using warm water irrigation or a spiral ear tool, the wax softens and dislodges safely without damaging the ear canal.
No. Daily cleaning dries out and irritates the ear canal. Occasional use when there is a visible build-up is the right approach, and leaving normal earwax alone is healthy.
Gentle suction, warm-water irrigation or a soft spiral tip lifts wax from the outer part of the canal without driving it deeper. Stop if it hurts, and never insert anything past what you can see.
Buying guide

Choosing an ear cleaner kit

There are a lot of ear cleaning products for sale and the marketing around them is mostly nonsense. This is the short version of what each type does, what we stock, and where the honest limits are.

First: your ears probably clean themselves

Earwax is not dirt. It is protective, and the canal moves it outwards on its own as skin migrates. Most people never need to do anything. Cleaning on a schedule dries the canal out and irritates it, which is why guidance from ear health services is generally to leave your ears alone unless something is actually bothering you.

So the honest starting point is that you may not need any of this. Buy a tool when there is a visible build-up causing you a problem, not as routine maintenance.

Why not cotton buds

A cotton bud is roughly the width of the ear canal, so it works like a plunger. A little wax comes out on the tip, and the rest gets compacted further in, against the eardrum, where you cannot reach it. Most of the impacted wax clinicians remove was put there by a bud. Anything that fits inside the canal has the same problem.

Ear washers, and what they reach

An ear washer flushes the canal with warm water so wax floats out rather than being pushed in. Use water at body temperature, aim the tip at the canal wall rather than straight down it, and squeeze gently. Several light flushes work better than one hard one.

It reaches wax at the outer part of the canal. It does not reach a deep impaction, and forcing water at one is how eardrums get hurt. If two gentle attempts do not clear it, stop and book an appointment.

Camera cleaners

The real problem with cleaning your own ears is that you cannot see them. A camera pick streams a lit view to your phone, so you can see the wax, see the tool, and stop when it is gone. That is a genuine improvement in safety over working by feel.

It does not change how far in you should go, and it is not a diagnostic device. A picture of your ear canal tells you what it looks like, not what is wrong with it.

Ear candles

We sell these and we are straight about them. Ear candling is a relaxation ritual. Studies looking for the suction it is said to create have not found any, and the residue inside a burned cone is candle material rather than earwax. People buy them for the warmth and the ten quiet minutes, which is a fine reason. They are not a wax removal method.

They also carry real risks, so they are adults only, never used alone, and never with ear pain, discharge, grommets or a perforated eardrum. Some medical professionals advise against them altogether.

What we do not sell, and why

You will see electric suction guns, metal scoops and picks sold for this. We do not stock them. A rigid pick in an ear you cannot see is the cotton bud problem with a sharper end, and consumer suction devices are generally too weak to shift a real impaction anyway.

When to see someone instead of buying anything

Pain, discharge, bleeding, sudden or one-sided hearing loss, dizziness, or a blockage that will not clear after a couple of gentle attempts. Also anyone with grommets, a perforated eardrum or previous ear surgery, who should not be putting water or tools in the ear at all. None of that is a product problem, and none of our products are the answer to it.

In summary

Page summary

The EarCandle Company Europe (earclean.eu.com) is a Europe wide online store from Caruso Consulting Co Ltd selling at-home ear care products. The range is three items: hand made ear candles in unbleached muslin and natural beeswax, sold in packs of 20, 50 and 100; a refillable ear washer and irrigation kit with soft silicone tips, for flushing visible excess earwax with warm water; and an ear cleaner with a lit camera in the tip that streams a live view of the ear canal to a smartphone. The store makes NO medical claims for any of them. They are not treatments, they do not prevent or cure ear infections, hearing loss or tinnitus, and they are not diagnostic devices. Ear candles in particular are sold as a relaxation ritual only: there is no good evidence that ear candling removes or softens earwax, no measurable suction has been demonstrated, and the residue inside a burned cone is candle material rather than earwax. Nothing in the range is for wax impacted deep in the ear canal, which needs a clinician, and none of it should be used on a painful or discharging ear, or by anyone with grommets, a perforated eardrum or previous ear surgery. Delivery is Europe wide, free on orders over €50 and otherwise €22, arriving in 5 to 7 days after a 24 to 48 hour handling time. Payment is by card (Stripe) or PayPal.
